Children love the cool, crazy, strange, funny, old and whacky information. They are eager to learn and know the interesting space information whenever it is available. They should know about the Moon, Planets, the Milky Way Galaxy, our Universe and much more. Some of the interesting facts are mentioned below which will prove useful to the students and Teachers as well:
1. The sun is over 300000 times larger than Earth.
2. In 1986, Halley’s Comet was last seen in the inner Solar system, It will again be visible from Earth in 2061
3. Our solar system has the hottest planet, i.e. Venus. It has surface temperature of over 450 degree Celsius.
4. Many scientists believe that an asteroid impact caused the extinction of the dinosaurs around 65 million years ago.
5. The Solar System formed around 4.6 billion years ago.
6. Earth reforms its surface through earthquakes, erosion, rain and wind but Moon has very little weather to alter its appearance. This is the reason that Moon appears to have more craters and scars than Earth.
7. Saturn isn't the only ringed planet, other gas giants such as Jupiter, Uranus and Neptune also have rings, and they are just less obvious.
8. Footprints and tyre tracks left behind by astronauts on the moon will stay there forever as there is no wind to blow them away.
9. In 2006, astronomers changed the definition of a planet. This means that Pluto is now referred to as a dwarf planet.
10. Because of lower gravity, a person who weighs 200 pounds on earth would only weigh 76 pounds on the surface of Mars.
11. Venus is the only planet to spin backwards relative to others and Uranus is the only planet that rotates on its side like a barrel.
12. Some of the fastest meteoroids can travel through the solar system at a speed of around 42 kilometers per second (26 miles per second).
13. The first man-made object sent into space was in 1957 when the Russian satellite named Sputnik was launched.
14. It is because of the Sun Moons gravity that we have high low tides.

Maths in Balanced Diet

Jun 22, 2017
MBD GROUP
1.The quantity and the medicine: Have you ever go through the back side of the medicine strip? The components names are always there with the ratio of quantity used. Example, 0.04mg of paracetamol in each 1g of the medicine.

2. The time interval and items to consume: Do you know how much water you should drink per hour. Our kidney can filter 1l of water every hour, which is around 4 cups of water. So, we can drink 4 cups of water every hour.

3. The ratio of consumption and items not to be consumed: Everything in excess can harm or body. The items having high calorie need to be consumed in a small ratio. Example, a doughnut or donut has 452 calories/100g. So, we can have a small ratio of donut in our balance diet.

The balanced diet is all based on the ratio of quantity to be consumed and the time interval in which it should be taken which entirely deals with mathematics. So, mathematics is completely in food.

A for Carrots Vitamin A

MBD GROUP
Vitamins are important for maintaining good health. While we can’t stress enough just how important all the vitamins and minerals are for our overall well-being, today we’re going to focus on vitamin A. Vitamin A is fat-soluble, a powerful antioxidant, and part of a family of compounds that are vitally important to the body. Vitamin A is the most vital compound as it is the supporter of immune system. It also helps strengthen vision and also assists with normal organ function, reproduction, and many more.

Basic Forms of Vitamin A

Different forms of Vitamin A have their own characteristics and play an important role in healing one or the other part of the body. We have two basic forms of Vitamin A as:

a.) Retinoids – This form of Vitamin A plays an important role in cell and bone tissue growth, healthy vision and immune function.

b.) Carotenoids --Carotenoids is the form of Vitamin A which help maintain healthy skin, eyes, and also boost the immune system.

Health Benefits of Vitamin A

1. Vitamin A is critical for good vision.
2. Plays an important role in healthy bone growth.
3. Vitamin A is essential for reproduction.
4. Plays a role in cell division and cell growth.
5. Supports the immune system.
6. Supports skin health.

Top 10 Vitamin A Foods

a) Beef Liver
b) Carrots
c) Sweet potato
d) Kale
e) Spinach
f) Apricots
g) Broccoli
h) Butter
i) Eggs
j) Winter squash

Dangers of Vitamin A Deficiency

Deficiencies of Vitamin A may affect the elderly and chronically ill most of all. Anemia is also due to low iron levels which in turn is the result of deficiency of Vitamin A.

Effect of Sugar Intake on Child

Jun 06, 2017
MBD GROUP
About 60-90% of school age children are being affected by tooth decay as it is the most common non-communicable disease in the world. 92% of adults aged 20-64 have experienced decay in at least one of their permanent teeth. Moreover, the treatment of dental costs 5-10% of total health expenditure in industrialised countries.

Incidence of tooth decay is much higher in children than in adults because children consume more sugary products. Foods that are being provided to the students at nurseries and schools should have a maximum of free sugars in the complete range of foods amounting to no more than 2-5% of energy.

Vending machines should be removed which offers confectionary and sugary drinks in the areas which are controlled by local or central government. There should be no publicly supported establishment of those products that contribute to the expensive problems of dental cavities, obesity and diabetes. The food industry should be given instructions that they should formulate their products to reduce or preferably remove all sugars from their products. The policies of big business should reduce the limit from 10% to 5% but it should be 2.5% as suggested.

A sugar tax should be developed to increase the cost of sugar rich food and drinks. This is the simplest solution to control the flow of sugar because as a tax on a sugar is a mass commodity, since taxing individual foods depending on their sugar content is an enormously complex administrative process. The retail price of sugary drinks and sugar rich products should be increased by at least 20% so as to have a reasonable effect on consumer demand. The level will depend on expert analysis.

(b) Probability that B is more likely to roll a higher number than C.

(c) Probability that C is more likely to roll a higher number than A.

Solution:

· Dice A has sides 2, 2, 4, 4, 9, 9.

· Dice B has sides 1, 1, 6, 6, 8, 8.

· Dice C has sides 3, 3, 5, 5, 7, 7

(a) Probability that A is more likely to roll a higher number than B.

S= {(2, 1), (2, 6), (2, 8), (4, 1), (4, 6), (4, 8), (9, 1), (9, 6), (9, 8)}

S (A B) = {(2, 1), (4, 1), (9, 1), (9, 6), (9, 8)}

Dealing Kids with Aggression

May 20, 2017
MBD GROUP
Aggression grows to such a level that parents feel that they have failed at parenting. It’s not so important why you as a parent aren’t effective at times- what’s more important is what you do about it. Some parents feel out of control in the face of child’s anger and aggression.
When we visit a mall or any shopping complex, sometimes we might have noticed some children throwing tantrums in front of their parents to buy some game and they get obstinate about this thing.

We should as a parent understand what the problem is with the child. Sometimes we must have seen that parent’s weakness is that they themselves get angry and aggressive that they fail to control their child’s behaviour. There is an incident that I have seen. Some parents jump right in, as soon as they hear or see a problem and get in the child’s face. This would only escalate the situation. Let us be clear: we can be gentle, quiet person and an effective parent but still we need to be firm and set clear limits.

There are many ways to handle child’s aggression. We should be consistent. We can’t ignore behaviours one day and respond by screaming at your child the next day. Sometimes we need to take our child out of a situation to help him regain control of his emotions.

At home we can set limits around aggressive behaviour. We can say the rules loud or we can write them down; it often works well for kids to see things in black and white.

There is another thing that we must have experienced. A child commits mistake and when asked to apologise for the mistake then he says, ” I am sorry but the mistake was of that person”. Whenever this kind of situation arises then it is clear that the child has not realised his mistake and he is blaming the other person which is a bad sign of the child’s behaviour.

We should develop ways to have problem solving conversations. For example, whenever a little child threatens his elder sister to get off the computer then we should as a parent not only correct him but later we should have a conversation with them when things calm down.

It’s important to remember that misbehaviours such as fighting and physical aggression occur in day-care and pre-school as well. It’s part of the way children learn to get along with each other, but we need to deal with it immediately if our child is aggressive. We also need to coordinate our intervention with the caregiver so that we both are consistent. We should check in with the caregiver regularly to make sure that the behaviour is improving. And instead of supporting children in their matters we should be judgemental and take right decisions whether they are in favour of our children or not.

At last the conclusion is do not get discouraged. Things can change at any moment and at any time. We will proud at one time when these children will exhibit positive behaviour which we helped them to develop.

Air Pollution Harmful to Young Brain

May 16, 2017
MBD GROUP
Planet Earth is comprised of the atmosphere which is a mixture of complex natural gaseous system. Central Nervous system is the main target of the Air Pollution. Children living in urban areas are the ones who get infected due to high exposure of air pollutants present in the atmosphere. Early exposure to Air Pollution causes the same damaging effects in the brain as Autism and schizophrenia. Air pollution can trigger strokes in Brain.

Lead is one of the most toxic metal and intake of lead can be very harmful to a child. Lead in the blood of children circulates into the brain more frequently. Aggression, behavioural issues such as depression and sleep complaints are the impact of high lead exposure found in children.

Children raised in higher pollution scored lower in intelligence and showed signs of lesions in MRI scanning of the brain in comparison to the children who scored more in intelligence which were raised in lower pollution levels.

Many students who live in the urban areas have their mind diverted or are less concentrated towards their studies. This causes a concern in the minds of parents as well. Moreover, short term exposure to air pollution more likely affects daily mood rather than causes major depressive illnesses. Air pollution was associated with headache and migraine symptoms also.

Air pollution is likely to have a greater impact on asthmatic children as well if they are without access to routine medical care. Generally it is better to stay indoors to reduce your exposure to smoke. Children should be given proper diet and they should be given proper environment so that they can achieve success in life by being healthy.
